yep, big success. made yesterday by my 13 yo son and 8 yo daughter, substituting custard powder for cornflour (none in the cupboard at the time). went ooops with the cocoa, but that was fine – actually, good! No coconut in the pantry either, so we used hundreds and thousands! trashy! big success with vanilla icecream and frozen raspberries, and with only about 3 hours chilling. thanks – ace!

Thanks! I made it this morning – its currently in the fridge cooling and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will set.
Do you think you could replace the coco powder with strawberry Quick, or similar, for a different taste?

Thanks for this – I made this yesterday morning with the kids – they loved helping pour in the ingredients and looked forward to it all day – verdict – yum.

What I esp. like about the recipe is that the ingredients are ones you’ll nearly always have to hand – so it’s a great spur of the moment recipe and sooo simple. I used a similar cut glass dish that is very nostalgic as the sort of thing mum and grandma would have used. I spent the whole day trying to teach my 4 year old boy how to pronounce ‘blancmange’. Will ceraintly add the recipe to my recipe collection book.

Squishy spoonfuls of chocolate-flavoured nostalgia. It reminds me of something my mum used to make with carnation milk and jelly crystals (and serve in a cut glass bowl).

Looks excellent – I think it’s the same pudding that my mom makes. The coconut – which I am very allergic to – seems like a very Australian thing. Is it?
