When I was a kid I envied the Brownies and Guides at the local unit who could stitch pretty merit badges onto their uniforms. As a result my friends and I spent a lot of time creating little cardboard badges so that we could do various activities and crafts to earn them and then stick them in our scrap books. Today on the Etsy Blog you will find a cool little DIY tutorial on how to make your own embroidered merit badges. For kids it might be easier to go the route of the alternative suggestions which include using fabric markers rather than embroidering or drawing onto little wooden discs with pins attached to the back.
A nice, timely suggestion is to make a badge for dad for Father’s Day.
